Adobe Portable Document Format files (PDFs) are a common file type that is transmitted between computers, fax machines and email programs. This file type is typically smaller in file size than source documents such as Microsoft Word documents or Excel spreadsheets. PDFs are not easy to markup, but small corrections to text or the insertion of drawings is possible with the full version of Adobe Acrobat.

Click the 'Start' button on the bottom left side of the screen. Navigate to 'All Programs' and select 'Adobe Acrobat Professional.' This program may be listed as 'Adobe Acrobat Pro.' Allow the program to open.

Navigate to the 'File' option in the main menu. Select 'Open' from the drop-down menu. Browse your computer and select the PDF document you will be drawing on. Click the 'Open' button and allow the document to load.

Navigate to the 'Tools' option in the main menu. Select 'Comment & Markup' from the drop-down menu. This menu will provide you with a number of options. The drawing tools include line, cloud, rectangle, arrow, oval, polygon, pencil and pencil eraser. Select the tool which meets your drawing needs.

Position your mouse over the PDF. The mouse icon will change to a plus sign with a blank interior. Position the middle of the mouse over the area where the drawing will begin. Press the left mouse button and hold the button down. Drag the mouse across the PDF to create the drawing. Release the button when the drawing or drawing portion is complete. Repeat this process until your drawing is completed.

Position the mouse over the center of the drawing. The mouse will change from a hollow plus sign to a sold plus sign with arrows at each tip. Press the left mouse button and hold the button down. Drag the mouse across the PDF to move the drawing to a new location. Repeat this process until the drawing is in the correct position.

Position the mouse over the end of a drawing section. The mouse will change from a hollow plus sign to a white arrow with a black outline. Press the left mouse button and hold the button down. Drag the mouse across the PDF to change the angle of the drawing. Repeat this process until the orientation is correct.
